Neue Serie auf ABC von Shawn Ryan (THE SHIELD) und Karl Gajdusek (DEAD LIKE ME), mit Andre Braugher (!) und Scott Speedman. Pilot-Regie von Martin Campbell.

500 feet beneath the ocean's surface, the U.S. ballistic missile submarine Colorado receives their orders. Over a radio channel, designed only to be used if their homeland has been wiped out, they're told to fire nuclear weapons at Pakistan.

Captain Marcus Chaplin demands confirmation of the orders only to be unceremoniously relieved of duty by the White House. XO Sam Kendal finds himself suddenly in charge of the submarine and facing the same difficult decision. When he also refuses to fire without confirmation of the orders, the Colorado is targeted, fired upon, and hit. The submarine and its crew find themselves crippled on the ocean floor, declared rogue enemies of their own country. Now, with nowhere left to turn, Chaplin and Kendal take the sub on the run and bring the men and women of the Colorado to an exotic island. Here they will find refuge, romance and a chance at a new life, even as they try to clear their names and get home.

Erste Reviews sind sehr positiv, die Premiere nächste Woche, aber das riecht wieder alles danach, als wird das U-Boot von ABC versenkt, bevor die erste Staffel überhaupt zuende ist.

Eigentlich fresse ich Shawn Ryan aus der Hand, und Braugher seh ich auch gern (Speedman ist dann schon wieder 'ne andere Sache), aber der Trailer spricht mich leider überhaupt nicht an.

Pilotfolge expositorisch ziemlich überfrachtet und -hastet, so einige richtig kitschige Momente gibt's auch und dazu die ganze Palette von Hollywood-Charaktertropes aus 99 und 1 U-Boot-Filmen, aber Braugher ist hervorragend, die Serie nett ausgestattet und die Prämisse macht (noch) Spaß. Bleib da mal dran.

Es hat nicht sollen sein: ABC hat die Show soeben gecancelt (die erste Staffel wird allerdings noch komplett ausgestrahlt).

Mehr hätte die Prämisse auch nicht hergegeben, das hat man in den letzten Folgen so richtig gemerkt.

Und für Shawn Ryan nach dem brillianten TERRIERS und dem ordentlichen CHICAGO CODE die dritte versenkte Serie in Folge. Echt blöd.

Die ersten beiden Folgen gesehen.
Bis auf Dichen Lachman super besetzt, tolle Prämisse und ein bewunderswertes Schlag-auf-Schlag Tempo.
Bleib da mal dran.
